Anesthesia Medications
Medications are configured for use in the Vitals Anesthesia - The Graph BLOCs and Anesthesia Med Sets in the Anesthesia Medication section of the Admin Home. If a medication is not included in Anesthesia Medications, it will not be an option for charting when documenting in the Graph BLOCs or when configuring the BLOCs. This is also where medications are marked as Infusion Medications. It is important to note that infusion medications cannot be used in Anesthesia Med Sets.
Existing Anesthesia Medications cannot be edited. To change the name of a medication or mark it as an infusion after it has already been created and saved, the user must delete the existing entry and then create a new, corrected entry.
Users are allowed to enter any Medication Name - they are not tied to using the Item Master description or preference card description. Because of this, if the name of the associated Item Master entry is changed that change will not be reflected in Anesthesia Medications or any area of HST eChart that uses Anesthesia Medications (The Graph BLOCs, Anesthesia Mediation Sets).
Remove a Medication:
- Tap the Delete icon to the right of the medication that is to be removed.
Add a Medication:
- Tap the Add New Anesthesia Medication icon at the top of the page. The Add Anesthesia Medication screen will load.
- Search for the medication to be added. The search field pulls from Medications in Item Master. If a medication is not entered in Item Master and marked as a medication, it cannot be added to Anesthesia Medications.
- Edit the name for the medication if desired. This name is what will display in the when configuring and using Anesthesia Vitals - The Graph BLOCs. Each Anesthesia Medication must have a unique name.
- If the medication will be used as an infusion, tap the Infusion Medication checkbox. Checking the box causes the additional infusion configuration fields to appear when configuring Vitals Anesthesia - The Graph (2). If the medication will be used as an infusion it may be helpful to indicate that in the Name field, so it is easier for the user to distinguish the medication as such when configuring the Graph BLOCs in the BLOC Configuration section.
- Tap the "Save Medication" button to add the medication to the Anesthesia Medications.
